Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your continued support of the school during these changing times.
The following information was sent out on Monday via email. I would just like to reiterate some of the information:
Whole School Video Conference:
- Microsoft Teams should have automatically downloaded onto your childs iPad in readiness for video conferences with students. You will need to log your child on using their school email and password. If Teams has not been automatically downloaded you can go directly to the School Apps icon and install it. Parents should have recieved via email from the Catholic Education Office (search for ICT Alerts in your inbox) with details of their child's login and password.
- From Monday I had planned to host a daily whole school video conference at 8:55am. Due to technical issues this cannot happen, but we will let you know when this service becomes available.
Weekly Video Conference with class teachers:
- Beginning in Week 2, each teacher will attempt to hold a half an hour video conference session with their students using Microsoft Teams. A timetable with these times will be shared soon.
- When your child is video conferencing with their teacher or Principal a parent must supervise at all times. Each session will be recorded as part of the systems policy.
Engagement in Remote Learning and Absences:
- Students who are at school will engage with the same remote learning activities as set for home learning.
- Teachers will have printable resources available for pickup on Mondays.
- The roll will be marked every day. Students who take part in remote learning either at home or at school will be marked as participating. Participation means completing some of the work issued however your child will not be expected to work longer hours than stated in the NESA Learning from Home Guide - attached later in the newsletter.
- If students do not engage in the days learning they will be marked absent. An absent note will be required if your child is sick or on leave. These absence notes will be followed up as per our current procedures.
Student Attendance Survey:
- The current daily attendance survey is the only survey in circulation.
- We will be collecting information and bookings (maybe in SessionKeeper which we use for Parent/Teacher meetings) in order to plan for all students returning one day per week from May 11th. We hope to spread the student attendance across every day of the week, and so will try to offer parents a choice of days for their family. This will take a bit of organisation, please be patient as we attempt to set this up.
Please remember that student drop off and pick up will now be from the church car park entry of school.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

As we begin our term together, unsure of where it will end, we encourage you to take time out to meditate and pray.
Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire!
St Catherine of Siena
Below is a link to a guided meditation that was shared with our 5/6 class this week.
Lord Jesus Christ,
We pray that you look over our ANZACs,
may they find peace with you.
Guide us to look out for each other,
just as the first ANZACs did.
Amen
Flynn Bryant and Asha McDonell
who celebrate their birthdays next week.
We hope you enjoy your special day.
School Office Relocation - Reminder
Our school office is now located in the classroom on the corner of the Julie's Garden small grassed area. The school office will be open as usual and printed work sheets are available from the office.
Parents will now come to the office in it's new location when entering the school. Social distancing protocols still apply.
If you need to contact the school the phone number is still the same. However when we call you it will now say "No Caller ID". Please also note we only have one caller line so if you hear the engaged tone please keep trying.
School Counsellor Visits - Term 2
Mrs Emma McRae our counsellor will still be visiting our school during Term 2. Emma will be holding her counselling sessions via video conference on the following days:
-
- Week 2 - Wednesday 6th May
- Week 4 - Wednesday 20th May
- Week 6 - Wednesday 3rd June
- Week 8 - Wednesday 17th June
- Week 10 - Wednesday 1st July
Please read a letter from Emma explaining the procedures for Term 2 below.
Mothers Day 2020
Mothers Day this year is Sunday May 10th. The P&F would usually run a raffle and a stall for our students. Due to the very unusual circumstances we find ourselves in we will not be doing any fundraising at this time.
Don't be worried - we will be back asking for support once the school reopens again!
Unfortunately due to COVID 19 and the emphasis of the safety of our school students, the CPS Basketball Challenge Executive Committee has cancelled the 2020 Challenge.
This decision was made after much consideration, and because of the uncertainty of when life will resume normality and with the pressures placed on the schools and families.
