Local Permission (Walking) Note
At times during the school year your child/ren will participate in off premises cultural and sporting learning activities within walking distance of the school.
For example Book Week at the Bland Shire Library, performances at the S&C Club, training at the stadium or Perseverance Oval.
As part of St Mary's "duty of care" responsibility, risk assessment documents must be submitted to Catholic Education Office Canberra Goulburn for these events. As most of these excursions are low key, for a short duration and do not require monetary payment, parents are notified of the actual date, time and event via the newsletter.
This permission note covers your child/ren attending these events for the 2022 school year.
If at any time you do not wish your child to attend an event off premises, after specific notification, please contact the school.
Please click on this link Local Excursions (Walking) - Permission Note 2022 to complete the note.
We are welcoming new enrolments for the 2023 school year. We appreciate that this is a significant decision for parents and know that new families will need time to consider all available options.
Please enrol online at our website with the link below or call at the school office for a paper form. https://smwms.nsw.edu.au/enrolment
If you require further information please call the school office.
Novena for Rain
Joseph, by the work of your hands and the sweat of your brow, you supported Jesus and Mary, and had the Son of God as your fellow worker.
Teach me to work as you did, with my patience and perseverance, for God and for those whom God has given me to support.
Teach me to see in my fellow workers the Christ who desires to be in them, that I may always be charitable and forbearing towards all.
Grant me to look upon work with the eyes of faith, so that I shall recognise in it my share in God’s own creative activity and in Christ’s work of our redemption, and so take pride in it.
When it is pleasant and productive, remind me to give thanks to God for it.
And when it is burdensome, teach me to offer it to God, in reparation for my sins and the sins of the world.
And please intercede for any repentance needed (2 Chronicles 7:13-15) for sins that have shut the heavens from pouring life giving rain on our fields and for crops to grow this season.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR ST MARY’S ATHLETICS CARNIVAL ON THURSDAY 10 MAY 2018
Students in Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 students who do not turn 8 this year will have recess at school at 11.00am and then walk to McAlister Oval to participate in races and games. Those who are not being picked up by parents at the ground will be escorted back to St Mary’s in time for the afternoon bell and buses. Children should wear house coloured t-shirts and their sports clothes.
Students in Year 2 (those who are 8 this year) to Year 6 have advised the school they will either get off buses at the public school stop (there will be a teacher on duty there), be dropped at the Oval by parents or come to school as normal and walk to the Oval accompanied by a teacher. The afternoon dismissal will work in reverse with students not going home with parents being accompanied to the public school bus stop or back to St Mary’s after the carnival.
Thank you to those parents who have indicated they are able to assist on the day in the field or in the canteen (roster below).
Your contributions to the canteen should be dropped off at the ground at 9am.
Champion trophies and ribbons will be presented to students at assembly next Friday morning.

Understanding an eating disorders can be difficult for families. There are many myths around what causes an eating disorder, but it is actually diagnosed as a mental illness. Although the focus is on food, weight and shape, there is often an underlying issue being masked by the eating disorder. It is the biggest killer of any psychiatric illness for young people. It affects both males and females of any age or background.
An eating disorder is a serious and potentially life-threatening mental health illness. It can have significant physical and emotional effects. The beginning of adolescence and late teens are peak periods for kids to experience their first symptoms. Young people with eating disorders can have reductions in cognitive function, emotional changes and may even stop participating in their normal daily activities.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn what warning signs to look for and what can be done in the prevention of an eating disorder. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition and we always welcome your feedback.
If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school for advice and referral to the school counsellor if necessary.
