Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 4. This term is absolutely flying by; the warmer weather will be upon us before we know it!!!
Congratulations to Charlotte Pursehouse of Year 4 for representing St Mary’s at the finals of the Archdiocesan Public Speaking competition in Gundagai, she spoke amazingly well. We are all so proud of you!
On Friday, each class celebrated the feast day of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop. Friday is another special feast day. The feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will come together as a whole school for the Mass at 12pm tomorrow. We look forward to parents and grandparents joining us.
Last week I fielded a very positive call in relation to our school’s fine NAPLAN results. Previously I have reported on how fabulous the school’s results were. I’d like to share this in greater detail. As you can see from our Year 3 and 5 results we are above or on par with the national average in all areas. This is a fabulous result and shows how hard working our staff and students are. Look at our Year 3 and 5 Grammar and punctuation results; most impressive!!!
After many years of the award ceremony and the whole school performance being together on one huge night we have decided to trial separating them. This decision has come from community council suggestions, staff suggestions and the leadership team. The whole school and matinee performances will be on Thursday December 11th at the S & C club. The award ceremony and announcement of 2026 leaders will be during school time on another date to be determined. We look forward to your attendance for what will no doubt be a spectacular show.
Remember my door is always open.

This week at St Mary’s our focus value is Judgement. Judgement is a gift of the Holy Spirit and it allows us to make wise and practical decisions, rather than being swayed by emotion or bias. Judgement also helps us make the right choices to live as a faithful follower of Jesus and to judge between good and evil, then act accordingly. It means critically thinking about a situation rather than just blindly accepting everything we’re told.
A Prayer for Right Judgement

Bullying No Way - National Week of Action
https://qedgov.eventsair.com/2025-bullying-no-way-week/2025bnw/Site/Register
The theme for 2025 is 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.'
It takes courage to spark change.
Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.
Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.
In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.
This Bullying No Way Week, we're asking students, schools, families and communities to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying.
We are welcoming new enrolments for the 2026 school year.
Please enrol online before the 31st of August, however late enrolments are always accepted, at our website with the link below - https://smwms.nsw.edu.au/enrolment
If you require further information please call the school office.
