Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 9. The second last week of term. Congratulations to our Year 3 and 4 students who made their First Eucharist on Sunday at Mass. The ceremony was a lovely celebration. The students were all beautifully presented and well prepared. Many thanks to everyone who was involved and in particular, thank you to Carlie Iverach and Lauren Manchur for their support of the children and giving up their time to ensure the students were superbly prepared to receive this important Sacrament.
Two weeks ago, St Mary’s celebrated book week with their annual book character parade followed by our book fair. I’m pleased to report, as a school, we spent $2668.34. We now have now been given over $800 to spend on books for our library. This is a fabulous outcome!! Mrs Speedy already has thoughts on how we’ll spend this money to make our fabulous library even better!!
This week we welcomed the Somerset family (Charlotte Somerset) to the St Mary’s community with Charlotte joining 4 Trust. We hope you enjoy your time with us and look forward to a happy and positive experience as a part of the St Mary’s community.
On Friday you will receive your child’s progress report. These reports do not give your child’s teacher the opportunity to comment on your child’s work habits and how they are progressing. Please make an interview time to discuss this. These interviews will be held on Monday and Tuesday of Week 10. An opportunity to book a time will become available on Friday afternoon on compass. Please note if your child receives a ‘C’ grade they are meeting the expectation for that strand. ‘The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.’ - NESA National Education Standards Australia
As you would be aware our 2026 kindergarten information session and tour will be held this Thursday at 9:30. If you are aware of anyone interested in enrolling their child at St Mary’s in 2026, please let them know to attend!!! If they are unable to make it please let them know to call the front office for more information.
Remember my door is always open.

This week at St Mary’s our focus value will be Courtesy. Courtesy is treating people considerately and thinking about what is good for them, not just us. It means treating them like we would like to be treated ourselves. Being courteous prevents rudeness and arguing. It helps a home or school run more smoothly because people aren’t being selfish but are always thinking of others.
A Prayer for Courtesy

The Kinder and Year 6 class Mass that was scheduled for this week has been cancelled as Father Hilary is required in Canberra. Many thanks for your understanding.

What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.
Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.

With winter well and truly upon us it is timely to remind everyone about our Winter Uniform expectations.
This is taken directly from the school's uniform policy. It is expected that all items of the uniform are worn appropriately and kept in good order. Students uniforms should present as clean and tidy. For health and safety reasons hair is to be worn tied back if longer than shoulder length. Hair adornments must be in a colour scheme that matches the uniform and kept to a minimum. Jewellery is also to be kept to a minimum.
Please remember that ties should be worn at all times to and from school. Top buttons need to be done up and ties need to be worn appropriately. If hair is longer than shoulder length it needs to be tied back.
Thank you for your assistance.
