Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 7, we’ve got plenty of exciting things happening in the next couple of weeks. I can’t stress enough the importance of reading the school newsletter. Some students have come to school asking questions that have been answered in previous newsletters. Please do not let your child be unprepared for end of year activities because you have not read the newsletter.
I can’t thank the community council enough for their expert organisation of the school’s fete. I will endeavour to thank everyone but I am sure I will miss some, to those, I apologise and thank you profusely. First of all and my biggest thanks goes to Sarah Curry for her organisation of all the stalls, setting up and the many hours spent meeting parents and organising activities. Many thanks to all the parents who gave up their time to help run stalls, set up stalls, throw colour and pack and clean up. I was pleasantly blown away by the parental involvement. A special thanks to Allirah Stewart and her business Off Main Hairdressing for running the Hair and Braids Stall. Thank you to Andrew Connellan and Connellan’s Electrical for his work installing the sound system. Also, thank you to the teachers, learning support staff and front office staff for their time and support setting up, organising, laminating tokens and making posters. The last thanks must go to the students who so enthusiastically took part in the fete. Hopefully this was a highlight of the year for them. The way everyone worked together as a team was something that made me very proud.
As mentioned last week our staffing jigsaw for next year is coming together, I know I mentioned I’d share this with you. Thank you for your patience as I work closely with our applicants to finalise the last pieces of the puzzle for 2025. I am excited to communicate this with you as soon as I can.
Remember my door is always open.

Prayer
Advent always starts four Sundays before Christmas. This year, in 2024, Advent starts Sunday, December 1.
Advent prayers are a wonderful way for Christians to prepare their hearts and minds to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. In prayer, we can access God's world and ask Him to ready our hearts the way He prepared all of history to receive the gift of His Son. Traditionally, Advent prayers are said on each Sunday of Advent while lighting the Advent wreath and candles.
Prayer for Lighting the First Candle - Hope:
"Loving God, as we light the first Advent candle of hope, we ask for your presence to fill our hearts and homes. May the hope of Christ's coming bring light to our darkness and renew our spirits. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Building Communities & Resilience
In BCR this week we will continue to explore the character strength of ‘hope’ which links beautifully with the lighting of the first Advent candle representing ‘hope’. The following story will be shared and discussed with the students.
Story Reflection
- What do you think of the boy’s response to the businessman? Do you agree?
- What would the world be like without any hope?
- Why do you think it is important to have a hopeful mindset?
