Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 6, it is hard to believe we’re halfway through the term. Michael Roberts from COGLearn is at school today and will provide feedback to our staff in their delivery of the direct instruction programs at St Mary’s. This feedback is an important element in ensuring we provide our students with an excellent, evidence based learning experience.
A reminder about Compass Events. If your child is attending an excursion, please ensure you provide consent on Compass before the closing date. This is a legal requirement. If you experience difficulties using compass, please contact the front office.
The final week in August marks the end of winter uniforms. Friday will therefore be the last day students will be required to wear their tie to school.
With Father’s Day on Sunday please remember to send in money with your child to purchase a Father’s Day gift at the stall on tomorrow. Many thanks to the Community Council for organising.
As already communicated, our Year 2 teacher Georgie McKelvie has decided to go on leave for the foreseeable future. Our thoughts and prayers are with Georgie during this time. I am confident in the processes we have in place for a smooth transition and am positive that the student’s learning will not be impacted. Mrs Kate Dean who is familiar with the kids will work on a Monday and continue to be in the classroom on a Friday morning. Miss Georgia Thomas who is also familiar to the kids will take the class from Tuesdays until Thursday and each Friday afternoon. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss these changes.
Remember my door is always open.

Prayer for Winter’s end
from Sr Anne Hagan
We breathe a new air,
no longer cold with seeming death.
The flowers respond
to the strengthening Sun, your light.
So may our hearts respond to your
love and grace.
The birds break into song and call us
to your praise.
So may our hearts give praise at all
aspects of our lives.
The frozen earth and water melt to
new life:
So may our hardened hearts be
softened
To gentleness and love.
We are overwhelmed with images,
symbols, confirmations of your
resurrecting, your enlivening.

West Wyalong Show - Wednesday 4th September
The West Wyalong Show Day is a half day public holiday in our town. In lieu of the St Mary's Twilight Swimming Carnival, the CEO Canberra Goulburn has granted approval for our school to close for the morning of show day.
This means children and staff will not come to school on show day and gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy a full day at the show. Bus companies have been informed of this change.
Children should wear comfortable clothes and a hat. They will need a piece of fruit, recess and a drink for the half day. On the full days they will need their lunch as well.
There will be a Parent Information Session on Monday 21st October starting at 11:30am. More information on this session to come.
