Today we celebrate All Souls Day and we pray for all those who have died.
This feast day reminds us of the church's teaching - that death is not the end but a beginning of a new life with God. We are sad when someone close to us dies, but we know we shall see them again.
Let us Pray
Lord, your Son redeemed us by his death and resurrection and so we pray that those who have died in faith may come and share in your glory.
Lord, give us hope, comfort and strength as we remember our loved ones who are now with you.
We ask this through Christ the Lord.
Amen.
Children should wear comfortable clothes and a hat, and bring a piece of fruit, recess, lunch and a drink.
Order envelopes have been sent home and sibling envelopes are available at the school office. These must be back to the office by Monday at the latest. You can still order online using code 6G9 B9C 7GD at link: https://www.advancedimage.com.au/keycode/keycodefinder.aspx?keycode=6G9B9C7GD

Planning is underway for St Mary’s Intensive Swimming Program. All students are encouraged to participate in this program. Swimming is very much a part of the Australian lifestyle and a high level of swimming ability and knowledge and skill in water safety is not only highly desirable but could be life saving.
The program will run over seven days, from Thursday 15 November to Friday 23 November. The program will meet the needs of the K – 6 PDHPE Syllabus and is under the control of L&R Group from the Holland Park Swim Centre and their qualified instructors. Class teachers will attend to supervise. The primary aim is to develop each child’s swimming ability. The program will offer the following skill levels:
WATER LEARNER | Water Learner encourages children to become independent in the water. We introduce the fundamentals of water safety and continue to develop water confidence. The core focus is to get the child to stay afloat and start achieving short distances of propulsion. |
WATER BASIC | This level introduces swimming skills. At this level, children will learn kicking, breathing, streamline, body position and arm rotation, the core swimming skills needed to ensure your child has the correct techniques for their on-going development. |
WATER SKILLS | Children are now displaying correct freestyle techniques. We start to advance the distances of swimming to 15 metres. Backstroke is also introduced along with more advanced skills and drills to refine the child’s stroke and to continue water confidence. |
JUNIOR MINI | Junior Mini is re-enforcing the core swimming skills over a longer distances of 25m. Butterfly, breastroke and diving are now incorporated. Junior Mini is the first level of our squad training and fun and fitness are other key elements that are promoted. |
MINI SQUAD | Mini Squad focuses on fine tuning all four strokes along with further development of dives, introduction of turns, starts and finishes. It will help children transition to and understand competitive swimming. There is also a concentration on developing fitness and fun. |
The students will be placed in groups depending on their level of ability as advised by parents, and in consultation with Angus. Students will be assessed on the first day to make sure they are in the correct group.
Students not attending the program will be supervised at school and set appropriate literacy learning activities.
Our school has received a wonderful gift from Mother Teresa Early Learning Centre in Harrison ACT and along with matching support from the P&F there will be NIL cost to families for swimming lessons this year.
However we do ask that parents with a season pass provide us with this number.
A BIG THANKYOU TO MOTHER TERESA LEARNING CENTRE AND OUR P&F.
Click on the following link to send your permission form electronically.
The children have not received a paper permission form so if you are having trouble using this link please contact the school office. You will need to do a form for each of your children.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. It partners with local churches in developing nations to reach out to children by providing gift-filled shoeboxes and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ. After receiving shoebox gifts, many children are also invited back to participate in The Greatest Journey – an evangelism and discipleship program.
For more information on Operation Christmas Child click on this link Operation Christmas Child.
- We will have boxes at school if families wish to take one and pack their own.
- We will also be collecting donated items and packing some boxes at school.
Click on this link to find gift ideas.
We need to have your donations by Wednesday November 7th for collection by November 9.
Our school currently has a student enrolled who has a compromised immune system and is more vulnerable to disease than other students. Therefore, it is important that you do not send your children to school if they are unwell.
Your child should also stay at home if they have any infectious disease, coughs, runny noses, a temperature, diarrhoea or other infections. For more information about how long an illness is contagious, contact your GP or visit the NSW Health website at health.nsw.gov.au.

St Mary's uses the Schoolzine Parent Platform to provide our eNewsletter, Mobile App and Website.
The school newsletter is available every Friday and is sent to families via email. It is also available on the website and SZApp.
The newsletter is our first and preferred official way of distributing news, event details and other information for parents.
Parents are encouranged to refer back to the newsletter when they require last minute up to date information. Remember a copy is always available on the SZApp.
The school calendar is also available on the website and SZApp and can now be filtered by class groups. Parents can click on an event and find copies of permission notes and other information about that event.
