A Message from our Acting Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 3. As always, we have a busy week ahead of us at St Mary’s. On Wednesday at 9:45 we will hold our Book Character Parade. This is always a highlight at St Mary’s and something we are very much looking forward to. The parade will be followed by open classrooms, a chance to check out your child’s classroom and an opportunity to visit our book fair and purchase books for your child. I look forward to seeing all the students dressed up. Many thanks to parents and grandparents for their help in organising costumes for the children.
Last week, our Religious Education Coordinator, Mrs Breust organised a lovely Mass for all the beautiful mums, nans and grandmas. This was a lovely celebration and a great way of thanking them for everything they do. I hope you were all spoilt on Sunday!!! Also, thank you to Stacey Smith and the community council for organising the Mother’s Day stall which was held at school on Wednesday.
Over the next few weeks enrolments for kindergarten students for 2025 will open. If you know of any families in West Wyalong that are considering St Mary’s in 2025 for their child, please tell them to contact the front office.
This week, we will welcome Miss Lana Mortimer to St Mary’s. She will work as a Learning Support Assistant in Year 2. Students would be familiar with Lana from her work with us late last year and early this year. We trust Lana will enjoy her time with us and thank her for her commitment to St Mary’s.
Pictured below is our very own Miss Georgie McKelvie in Canberra. Georgie joined other Early Career teachers in the Canberra Goulburn Diocese for an induction Mass, important professional development and the opportunity to join with other Early Career Teachers for networking and reflection. We are so lucky at St Mary’s to have such dedicated and professional staff.
Remember my door is always open.

Sunday May 12, 2024
On the Feast of the Ascension Year B in May 2024, the readings focus on waiting for the Holy Spirit and sharing the Good News. We learn to be patient for God's help, work together in faith, and share our beliefs with others. The readings remind us that Jesus is with us, especially when we follow His mission. This day helps us understand our duty to talk about Jesus and live as He taught.
Stevie Smith
who celebrates her birthday during this week.
We hope you enjoy your special day.

Well done to the 15 students from 5/6 who attended the Paul Kelly Cup last Friday in Wagga. From all reports the students had an awesome day and their behaviour was exemplary.
Good luck to Meila Fair, Indi Fair, Mae Dean and Louis Morton all from 3 Peace, who will represent the Western Region at the Canberra Goulburn Cross Country championships at Stromlo in Canberra. The championships will be held on Friday the 17th.
Our Year 5/6 students will be travelling to Temora by bus on Wednesday the 22nd of May to compete at the Mortimer Shield Rugby League Gala Day. St Mary's have entered one tackle boys team and one tag girls team. Both tackle and tag teams will feature seven players on the fiels per team.
The time of departure will be confirmed when the draw is completed

Mrs Taylor will accompany the students on the bus and at the games.

Dear Parents,
There is an extreme rise in the reports to ESAFETY regarding “Sextortion” and scammers targeting children and young people. These issues are of great concern and headspace works closely with ESafety to guide families, schools, and young people toward the right supports.
Please see the helpful links and resources below.
You may have seen media recently about a number of suicides of young people who had been scammed hence why we are trying to educate young people (particularly young men) and parents carers about these rising issues.
