Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 2 2023, a term that is traditionally a very busy period with many sporting and learning opportunities. Last term I farewelled Mrs Bree Taylor for her maternity leave, and I am finally in a position to inform you of her replacement. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tommy Arms to teach 5/6 Hope for the remainder of the 2023 school year. Tommy joins us from Sydney, where he is in the final stages of completing his teaching degree. During the recruitment process I learnt that Tommy is enthusiastic to teach in a rural setting and I am tremendously excited to have Tommy join our teaching team. Welcome to St Mary’s Tommy.
Tomorrow sees the wonderful tradition of ANZAC Day where we pay our respects to past and present service men and women. We invite your child to commemorate ANZAC Day by joining the school in the March. We will meet students from 10.15am at Thom Dick & Harry’s corner ready for the march to commence at 10.30am. Students should wear winter school uniform with a tie (long pants or winter skirt). The weather looks to be favourable and to ensure a consistent appearance is achieved I request that jumpers aren’t worn for the march. I’m looking forward to seeing all our students represent St Mary’s during this special occasion.
Regards,
Phil Nielsen
St Mary's prays for the Murrells family on the death of their father and grandfather, Harry Murrells. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Students who would like to participate in the march are asked to meet at Thom Dick & Harry's corner by 10:15am for the commencement of the march.
The students and parents are invited to stay for the wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph at the S&C Club. Students should wear winter school uniform with a tie (long pants or winter skirt) with NO jumper. The students will be accompanied by Mr Nielsen and teachers from our school.
During the last few weeks of Term 1, Mrs Cuthbertson set all classes the task of creating an art piece depicting a component or multiple aspects of the Easter Story.
These were then all collected and during the Easter holidays Mrs Louise Daniher chose the winners in each class. This was very tough and she had an extremely difficult time in choosing!
Well done to our winners:
Kindergarten – Trudy Sturgess
Year 1 - Kalarni Caygill
Year 2 – Louis Morton
Year 3 – Rose Player
Year 4 – Will McDonell
5/6 Faith – Hunter Connellan
5/6 Hope – Zahli Cattle and Evie Cuthbertson
(Apologies to the Hunter and Kalarni who missed the photo)
