THE PASSION OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

Feast Day August 29^th

St. John the Baptist spoke the truth with great courage in calling others to a true change of heart, and to embrace the ways of God.  He did this not only by preaching, but also by example.  He fasted in the desert and prepared the way for Jesus.  He had such a great courage, that he was not fearful of speaking out. We can learn a lot from his life.  We too, can embrace the ways of God and speak out of the immorality of our day, and with the help of St. John the Baptist, we can prepare the way for Jesus to those around us.

O God, You raised up
St John the Baptist
to prepare a perfect
person for Christ.
We call upon St John’s
intercession to properly
prepare us with a true sense
of repentance to receive
Your grace and salvation.
Make us faithful to truth and justice,
as You did Your servant,
John the Baptist, herald of
Your Son’s birth and death.
Lord, may You
increase Your life within us.

St Mary’s Parish Sacramental Program, 2022

The Sacrament of Confirmation for Year 5/6 students will be held this year and the following are important dates for your diary:

• Scott's BMX Trick Bike Show - Whole School - please complete the consent and payment in the COMPASS App.

St Mary's says thank you to Elders West Wyalong for their wonderful $500 donation towards our playground equipment.  It is much appreciated by our school community.  Matt Lashbrook attended our weekly award assembly and presented our captains with the cheque.  The $500 will be added to the grand total of the Colour Explosion Run.

Ties do not need to be worn from the first day of spring the 1st of September so the last day for ties will this Wednesday.

In line with school policy students may wear either the school summer or winter uniform (without a tie), depending on the weather, until the end of Term 3.

Wednesday 7th September

The West Wyalong Show Day is a half day public holiday in our town.  In lieu of the St Mary's Twilight Swimming Carnival, the CEO Canberra Goulburn has granted approval for our school to close for the morning of show day.

This means children and staff will not come to school on show day and gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy a full day at the show.  Bus companies have been informed of this change.

St Mary's has organised a visit from the amazing Scott's BMX Trick Bike Show on the 5th of September at 1:50pm in the school hall.

This show is one about self discovery designed to encourage students on their own life journey with a 'can do' and 'what if I' approach. It fits within the PDHPE curriculum helping with problem solving and creative thinking.

This is the story of when Scott was given his first BMX bike, he asked "is there another way to ride this?"

Scott Hone is a father of two, BMX rider, juggler, acrobat, clown, photographer and teacher who started his performing career with Circus OZ and has gone on to perform at countless festivals around Australia and the world.

The cost of the show is $5.50 per student so please logon to COMPASS to give consent and payment.

We would appreciate any donations of tissues for your child's classroom.

Please send any boxes to the office or with your child for their teacher.

Bellarwi Country Women's Association Education Grants

Bellarwi CWA are calling for applications for the Phillip Group Education Grants 2023. 

These are for students going into Years 3 to 12 or first year Tertiary/TAFE education and are intended to assist families with the financial responsibilities associated with educating their children.

Application forms are available from the school office, please contact the office if you would like a form sent home.

The forms must be returned to the school by Friday the 16th of September.

Mrs Donna Spillman, our school counsellor for this year, is continuing to meet with students via Zoom every Wednesday.
