Dear Parents and Carers,
Term 2 has been a busy term as usual and we still have a few major events before the term finishes. Reports are still to come out and our teachers are looking forward to the Parent/Teacher interviews in Week 10. Building works continue around the school and are nearing completion.
Parent Portal
Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn are making the switch to an online system called Compass that is designed to house all school systems in one place, such as attendance, sick bay entries, student reports, excursion information and permissions and booking systems. You will also be able to communicate with your child's teacher and receive communication from the school.
For our parents this will mean that our Schoolzine APP will be slowly phased out as we move each part of the current system to Compass.
Our first step will be to confirm parent email and mobile numbers in our current school database, which is not linked to Schoolzine. More information about how to update your details will come out before the end of term.
Building Update
The works in the office and staff areas are in the final stages of completion. Assessments have been completed by the staff at Canberra Goulburn Planning and Facilities office on incomplete works and defects. Plans to have these rectified are being made and will be communicated to the school in the coming weeks.
Work on the outdoor learning centre is progressing well. The deck area, shade sail poles and access ramp are completed. Work has begun on the dry creek bed and group work area. The potential of the learning space is becoming apparent and we are looking forward to the works being completed in the coming weeks.
God Bless,
Phillip Nielsen
Principal
Living the Gospel – Seed on the Land
The first parable in the gospel passage describes the unerring work of the kingdom.
It is like the seed that almost magically transforms into a fully grown plant that may be harvested – apparently without any external forces. Of course, we know that plants need to be fed, watered, weeded and nurtured to ensure their proper growth. However, the kingdom of God works in our lives in a similar way – if we feed and nurture it, the kingdom will produce a great harvest.
Even if we don’t pay it attention, the kingdom is present and acting in our world.
We have had the privilege of having Mrs Tess Turner completing her teaching practicum at St Mary’s for the last four weeks in 3/4 Peace.
Thank you for all your hard work and support Mrs Turner. The students enjoyed you teaching them and Mrs Harland and Mrs Daniher appreciated all your help. We wish her all the best in completing her teaching degree and look forward to seeing her in our school in the future.

Year 3/4 Todd Woodbridge Tennis
Our Year 3/4 students played in the Todd Woodbridge Cup at the West Wyalong Tennis Club today.
The sun shone and although it was still a bit cold our students had a wonderful time, with St Mary's winning the day!
A team of five boys and five girls were selected to compete at the next level in Wagga on a date to be confirmed:
Hunter Ferguson, Max Cuthbertson, Jimmy Dean, Freddie Bell, Ashton Barber, Chloe Morton, Lexi Patton, Hannah McDonell, Montana Crouch and Larna Pilon.
Well done to everyone.
St Mary’s has many friends from the wider community.
One very special friend is Uncle Bernie.
Uncle Bernie is a local Wiradjuri Aboriginal elder who opens our weekly assemblies with the ‘Welcome to Country’. He teaches about Wiradjuri culture and loves to quiz the children each week on the names and meanings of local surrounding Wiradjuri towns.
We love having Uncle Bernie as a special member of school and we are very grateful for all the time and effort he puts into sharing the knowledge and culture of our Indigenous Brothers and Sisters.
Uncle Bernie is holding a picture of himself drawn by Kindergarten student Ivy Wilson.
