Planning for St Mary’s Intensive Swimming Program is now underway.

All students are encouraged to take part in this valuable program. Swimming is an essential part of the Australian lifestyle, and developing strong swimming skills along with water safety knowledge is not only highly beneficial—it can be life-saving.
We’re delighted to share that our incredible Community Council has generously offered to cover the full cost of all student lessons — meaning families won’t pay a cent! We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Council for this outstanding contribution and continued support of our school community.

Program Details

The Intensive Swimming Program will run over five days, from Monday 17th November to Friday 21st November. It is designed to meet the outcomes of the K–6 PDHPE Syllabus and will be delivered by qualified instructors from the L&R Group at Holland Park Swim Centre. Class teachers will also attend to supervise students throughout the program.

The primary aim of the program is to develop and strengthen each child’s swimming ability.

The program will offer the following skill levels:

Students will be placed into groups based on their ability level, as indicated by parent input. On the first day, all students will be assessed to ensure they are placed in the most suitable group for their needs.

Students who are not participating in the program will remain at school, where they will be supervised and provided with appropriate literacy-based learning activities.

Students are welcome to wear their sports uniform all week to make changing quicker and easier—especially for the younger ones.

A Compass event will be sent out today for parents to provide consent and indicate their child/ren’s swimming level.
