A Message from our Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to Week 10. The last week of Term 2. It is hard to believe we are already coming to the finish of another term.

It was fabulous to see so many parents around last night for parent teacher interviews. These will continue this afternoon and tomorrow. If you haven’t booked a time to see your child’s teacher, please book via compass if you’re experiencing trouble please contact the front office. A special thanks to the staff for their time analysing results and preparing for these vital conversations. These conferences are a great opportunity for parents to receive quality evidence-based feedback about how their child is progressing.

David de Carvalho, the new Director of Education in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, will be visiting St Mary’s on Wednesday. He only began in the role last week and we’re very fortunate to have David visit us so early on in his tenure. I have no doubt that he will be impressed by the students and the school. We look forward to welcoming him into the St Mary’s community.

Last week we held our 2026 Kindergarten Tour. During the presentation to the parents, I announced that Carlie Iverach will be teaching Kindergarten in 2026. We are very lucky to have such a professional and experienced early childhood educator to step into the role and we look forward to 2026. It would be remiss of me not to mention the outstanding effort and expertise Tessa Turner has put into our 2025 kindergarten cohort. We are lucky at St Mary’s to have such fine educators.

On Saturday night our community council held a trivia night in the school hall. It was a fun evening and a lovely way to finish off the term. Many thanks to Emily Watts and the community council for their hours of work and excellent organisation. We raised $6,411.10 for the construction of our new basketball court. Amazing effort!! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the night.

On the final day of term, Thursday, the community council will hold a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House. The students will be invited to wear their beanie to school. It does not have to be a school one!!! There will be yummy treats on offer at the canteen, hot chocolate and a sausage sizzle.

On Thursday we will farewell the Cloete family (Landon - Year 2 and Lara - Kinder) as they make the move to sunny Queensland.  We trust they’ve enjoyed their time with us and thank them for their contribution to the St Mary’s community.

Remember my door is always open.
