Mortimer Shield Year 5/6

Year_6_combined_Team.JPG

Our Year 5/6 boys and girls competed at the Mortimer Shield League and League Tag Gala Day last Wednesday the 25th of May in Junee.

Our boys team came up against some hard competition but managed to have two wins. The boys played very well together and showed great team work.  The game they lost was to the team who qualified for the next level.  Miss Madden did a wonderful job coaching our boys who responded well to her instructions.

Our Year 5 girls team played in Tag Pool 2 where they won all of their games and improved throughout the day. Our Year 6 girls, with the help of 3 year 5 girls, played in Tag Pool 1 and also won all their games.

This meant the final was between the two St Mary's teams.  The Year 6 girls came away with the win and will travel to the next level of the competition in Wagga on the 15th of June.

Our special thanks go to Jodie McDonell and Tiarna Fair who were willing to take time out of their busy days to coach the girls teams at school and then accompany them to Junee on game day.  We really appreciate their willingness to share imporant skills and knowledge with our students and it is fair to say that you did a great job.

Canberra Goulburn Rugby Union Trials

Cate_and_Jimmy.jpg

Cate Curry and Jimmy Dean travelled to Canberra today to trial for the Canberra Goulburn Rugby Union team.

It was a winter's day in Canberra with both rain and wind, so very unpleasant conditions.  Both Cate and Jimmy enjoyed playing and trying their best against students from other schools.

As the newsletter went to print we heard that Jimmy was successful and is now in the Canberra Goulburn team to trial for MacKillop in Forbes on Sunday the 26th and Monday the 27th of June.  We have not heard regarding Cate.
